Top TerraceMonteviot House itself is clothed in an array of climbers including Parthenocissus, Rosa Filips, Kiftsgate, Wisteria Sinensis and Clematis.
At the East end of the top terrace there is a late Summer herbaceous border planted exclusively in pink, white, purple and blue late flowering perennials supplemented by purple Phormiums, blue and purple Buddleia and black elder (Sambuccus Nigra) as a backdrop.
Our visitor walk continues along the terraced top lawns where daffodils are massed in spring and a newly planted Sorbus avenue leads to steps installed by the renowned garden designer Perry cane in the 1960s. On the top side of the steps is Hydrangea Paniculata and on the bottom side are Knaphill hybrid Azalea's with three Prunus Pissardii Nigra trees planted in a chevron to replicate the family Crest.
